Founder & CEO Al Baldwin Nominated for Prestigious Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award

This month, our beloved founder and CEO Al Baldwin was nominated for the Orange County Business Journal’s annual Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award. Each year the program recognizes outstanding individuals who exemplify the American entrepreneurial spirit – individuals, who by their very creativity and determination, have established and nurtured successful business ventures. Winners are nominated and selected based on their foresight, determination, business accomplishments and charitable works and contributions

“I am very honored to be considered for this award,” said Al Baldwin. “But it’s really important to understand that the continued success of Baldwin & Sons is enabled by our complete team. My three sons, as well as my son-in-law, help me lead the company and each and every employee contributes daily in their own unique and valuable way toward making all of this possible.”

Al Baldwin founded Baldwin & Sons more than six decades ago and since then the company has been responsible for delivering more than 20,000 homes to families throughout Southern California. Today Baldwin & Sons employs 122 team members and helps generate thousands of additional jobs through its ongoing relationships with contractors and other business partners on its two active masterplans – The Oaks in Orange County and Otay Ranch in San Diego County.

Al Baldwin’s philanthropy benefitting numerous not-for-profit endeavors is truly inspiring to many. His contributions are vast, but some recent highlights include: leading the record-breaking $550 million Centennial Campaign in support of the National Parks Foundation; organizing along with Baldwin & Sons’ leadership a 2020 campaign effort, raising more than $120,000 for South Bay Community Services’ Food Program when the non-profit experienced a surge in demand following the COVID-19 pandemic; and his ongoing support as a board member, volunteer and donator to the annual Stars & Stripes tournament, which raises money to support non-profits such as Orangewood Foundation, Tilly’s Life Center, Miracles for Kids, Big Brothers Big Sisters of OC, South Bay Community Services, UCP of Orange County and Building Baja’s Future, providing important services for children and families in need.

Join us in congratulating Al Baldwin on his entrepreneurial vision, leadership, mentorship and his relentless commitment to enriching the lives of those less fortunate through his decades of service to the community.
